Baroness Howard de Walden

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Hazel Caridwen, 10th Baroness Howard de Walden. Lady Howard de Walden passed away peacefully at home on Saturday 13th July at the age of 88.

Lady Howard de Walden was the eldest daughter of John Osmael Scott-Ellis, 9th Baron Howard de Walden, 5th Baron Seaford.  In 1999, she, along with her three sisters were appointed directors of The Howard de Walden Estate, the family’s property business, taking a keen interest in community and charitable matters.

Over the last 25 years, Lady Howard de Walden participated in key decisions that transformed Marylebone High Street into a leading location for independent retail and the growth of world class healthcare in the Harley Street Medical Area. She was an extremely supportive member of the Board and regularly attended company and staff events where she enjoyed meeting employees and managers involved in running the estate company.

She is survived by her six children, Charlotte, Henrietta, Alexandra, Philippa, Peter and Isabelle, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and is succeeded to the title by her son Peter, who becomes the 11th Baron Howard de Walden.

Other than this announcement, there will be no further statements from The Howard de Walden Estate Company or Lady Howard de Walden’s family, who request privacy at this difficult time.  Messages of condolence, which will be passed on to the family, can be sent to The Howard de Walden Estate, 23 Queen Anne Street, London W1G 9DL or This email address is being protected from spambots.
